Ms. Falk- Reading Specialist

Hello there! I am Amy Falk, the Reading Specialist at Troy Hills Elementary School! I work with students in grades K-5 and focus specifically on literacy. When working with me, students will use the reading program, Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), in small groups. This program allows students to enter and exit based on their ability to acquire taught skills. I will also work closely with classroom teachers to meet each student's needs and to continue monitoring their progress.

My goal is to help and support children who may have difficulties with reading while building their confidence and adding a smile to their faces.

Luckily, I LOVE to read and teach others, as well. As an undergraduate, I received my bachelor's in English. Following my degree, I continued a graduate program at Montclair State University to pursue my teaching career. Towards the end of my teaching program, I was lucky to have my student teaching here in Parsippany at Knollwood Elementary School.

From there, I spent the last nine years teaching third grade in Montville Township, where I also grew up! During my third year teaching in Montville, I returned to Montclair State University, where I earned my Masters in Reading and a Reading Specialist Certification. I now have the opportunity to use these skill sets and apply my knowledge and expertise here at Troy Hills Elementary School.

Here is a little fun information about Ms. Falk when I am not in school!:
-I love laughing and trying to make others laugh.
-I love traveling and trying new adventures and hikes.
-I just got a puppy named Penny, and she is a mini-Goldendoodle. (I will be talking about Penny ALL the time.)
-I am getting married this upcoming May to my fiance, Ryan. We are SO excited!!
-Planting is one of my favorite hobbies.
